Matthew Orvek, a maker of things

Hi, my name is Matthew Orvek and I am passionate about creating. Since I was young, I have always been fascinated by how things work and how I can make and improve them. I will graduate soon from Walla Walla University with a bachelor’s degree in Product Design, and I plan to use the skills I’ve learned to design and create products that make the world a better place. How do I plan on doing that you ask? I am under no illusions that I will fix all the world’s problems, but I believe in the power of well-designed products. I think that everyone can agree that using a product that works perfectly for its purpose is a delight. I also believe that if the products we use every day can bring us joy, then everything we use should be thoroughly designed to the last detail.

Outside of my design work, I enjoy singing and playing music, mountain biking, rock climbing, reading, and watching films. I aspire to be thoughtful in everything I do because I believe that my actions have an impact on the world around me.
